Anti-gay tweets
2012-02-09
Sky Television network CNN claimed on Wed. it has postponed writer Roland Martin over a sequence of Twitter remarks in the Super Bowl game that shocked America's homosexual community. "Roland Martin's tweets were lamentable and offensive. Language that demeans isn't consistent with the values and culture of our organisation, and isn't put up with. We've been giving extensive thought to this matter, and Roland may not be appearing on our air for the time being," the stories network related in an announcement. Martin on Sun. made a sequence of Twitter remarks that made fun of English football player David Beckham's new underclothes ad for fashion retailer HM and at a New England Patriot soccer player for wearing a pink suit. Martin tweeted : "If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham's HM undies ad, whack the ish out of him! Superbowl" together with, "Who the hell was that New England Patriot they just showed in a head to toes pink suit? Oh, he requires a visit from teamwhipdatass" His remarks incited protests by lesbian and gay activist group GLAAD, which recounted Martin was recommending violence against gay folks. "CNN today took a robust stand against anti-LGBT violence and language that demeans any community," GLAAD spokesperson Rich Ferraro expounded in a press release following CNN's call to postpone Martin.
