SA launch of Woza

Google expounded today the launching of Woza Online an initiative that intends to bring several thousand tiny and medium firms online in S. A. Utilizing the platform, enterprises will be in a position to create their own web sites and develop an internet presence free. According to the interim results of the newest SME survey conducted by World Wide Worx, it was discovered that having an internet presence is "crucial to being competitive, lucrative and sustainable." Stats presented by World Wide Worx MD, Arthur Goldstuck, at the Creativity Centre in Pretoria, showed clearly that 79% of SMEs with an internet site reported profitability this compared with only 59% of SMEs without a domain reporting the same. Woza Online is an initiative by Google, partnering with Vodacom, the Dept of Trade & Industry, and the Human Resources Development Council. Companies taking part in the drive get : a free easy-to-build pro web site ; a free sub-domain name and hosting ; an automated listing on Google Places which reflects in Google Maps ; access to coaching material and workshops ; free online support available through Google Talk and email ; one year free top-level .co.za site name for first ten thousand candidates.
